The Marine Investigation Branch has today released the final report on the fire that occurred on the narrowboat Lindy Lou that resulted in a fatality. The report acknowledges that AWCC now recommends the fitting of smoke alarms.

The Boat Safety Scheme has asked if any AWCC club(s) would like to participate in a manufacturer’s trial of smoke alarms fitted to their boats. Would any club like to get involved? There would no charge but it would involve some reporting back to BSS and the manufacturer.
